The changing landscape of the Web Directory World and the Web

In a fit of nostalgia, I recently realized that have been on the world wide web since more or less it's beginning about 25 or so years ago. That was when the first actual browser came out which really permitted you to see the web in the way it was intended, with pictures, etc. As it were, I completed my initial website around 2 years later, and I can tell you I have seen so many alterations and modifications since that time. After all, at that point in time the larger search engines were excite, Altavista, Magellion and Webcrawler and one that no longer exists called 'REX'. Yahoo was just a directory and did not evens earh the web yet (although you could search it's rather limited directory of hand-selected sites). of course, back then everyone used Netscape navigator as their browser and your meta tags were all you actually needed since the web was so fresh and news.
As it were, more sophisticates search index sites such as google, Bing and gigablast were not quite around as of yet. As a whole,
there were a lot of large portal type sites which no longer exist today. Many went down went the 'dot com bubble' went bust around ten years ago.
They had been funded by rampant speculation, because back then if you had a dot com domain and any reasonable idea you could get funding, someimes lots of it.
I mean, you could get millions of dollars to develop a site, and a lot of those sites never made a penny. For every Amazon.com there were hundreds of sites that went completely belly-up.
As a result, we are now looking at a completely different world wide web than even ten years ago. Of course, a some sites like yahoo have remained a constant staple, but so many sites which were hyped up to the now since are long gone. father time has simply moved on, as they say. One specific reason for the said 'rebirth' of the web was the imporvement of encryption methods and secure servers. In the 90's the perception was that it was somewhat risky to use your credit card in an internet commercial transaction. I suppose that could be a good thing since so many folks need credit counseling these days because they flash the plastic at a drop of the hat (I used to be one of them, in fact). Nowadays, not only do they need credit counseling but they also need Debt Management, debt help and debt relief. Overall, I can really now can see whay so many people were extra cautious at that time. After all, it is fairly easy to hide in the anonymity of the web. Just about anyone who can turn on a computer and log into the web can attempt to scam you from anywhere, even from third world countries and countries with weak laws regarding these things. It is a generally risky place I guess. However, with new and modified encryption and security measures and methods things have really changed for the better.

Technology News: Dell Computers

As I am sure you know, computers are at the forefront of both the business and technological universe today. Of course, they are a truly global business of many billions of dollars in annual revenues. All in all, certain specific entrepreneurs in this particular industry like Bill Gates of the microsoft Corporation in Seattle have succeeded in a huge way. One such man is of naturally Michael Dell of Dell Computers.
The native Texan was born to an orthodonist and a wall street broker. Going to Memorial High School when he was quite young, he did not do particularly well from an academic viewpoint yet he showed superb business management skills in his job as a seller of subscriptions for the Houston Post newspaper 9do they still have print newspapers, lol). As an aside if you spend a lot of time in the office on the computer and could use an office chairs then might I suggest Sitbetter.com as they have some of the best office chairs found anywhere at this time, regardless of what style.
This includes computer and adjustable office chairs also.
Needless to say, his climb to the stratosphere started while still in school, at a firm known as PC's Limited. His garage was his office, as I recall.Twenty three years after his initial investement of himself into the industry, Micheal Dell has created one of the largest computer assembly companies in the world; with Dell Computers generating sixteen billion dollars in revenue in 2008; and his now massive firm shows no signs of slowing down in growth and on the contrary, it is still growing quite rapidly.

The World Wide Web and Insurance Issues in 2008

All in all, the growth of the World Wide Web as well as e-commerce generally as a way of conducting business has opened the door to brand new risks which the insurance market is looking to accommodate, and gaps that need to be filled. Clearly, the Y2K problem did not cause a global apocalypse. Nevertheless, recent events have shown that the use of malicious code and/or attacks on commercial websites pose significant
and continuing risks to businesses that rely on, or are expanding into, e-commerce. On the one hand, some commentators believe that existing forms of property and liability insurance will adequately address such risks. However, it is doubtful whether Y2K remediation costs are covered by traditional forms of property insur¬ance. The Y2K insurance cases will undoubtedly serve as a proving ground for such arguments. You can find similiar information about this over at the Economic and Business news Blog which is one f the more resource rich weblogs out there currently.
As noted above, many of the first-party property exposures are largely intangible. There are few, if any, reported cases addressing the property damage issue directly. Notwithstand¬ing the Reliance Systems conclusion that "tan¬gible property" is ambiguous, most courts that have considered the term in the context of third¬party liability policies have had no difficulty finding that economic losses are intangible. As noted above, policies that insure against enumer¬ated perils will favour the insurer where Y2K failure is not one of the specified risks of loss. The converse is true with policies that insure against direct physical loss unless excluded. The extent to which Y2K remediation costs are fortuitous will clearly be a hotly contested issue. In either case, courts may well be swayed by the fact that Y2K remediation costs can easily be characterised as a cost of doing business, i.e. modernising soft¬ware, that was never contemplated as falling within the scope of property insurance.

Cable TV recieves new Operating System

Cable Televisions top operating system, Cablevision Systems, will apparently be offering a new system as of next year. This brand new system will basically permit programs to be recorded with out using a DVR. Instead, it will only take programming a program to be recorded by a digital set-top box and the programs in question will then be stored at the server for you instead of the DVR at your house. This is going to save nearly a billion dollars for the firm and other cable firms will certainly be offering this technology in several years or less. Additional details may be found at the Internet Mobile Technology News
This new network DVR technology is not without it’s own legal issues, however. There is still a question of copyright-infringement which needs to be worked out with movie and Television firms. Time Warner is considering a federal appeal after recently losing its 2-year war with Cablevision over its new network DVR system.
Cablevision did win their first battle so they do have plans to put it into operations in early 2009. The new system operates much like a home DVR and those using it will begin recording the shows they want to watch later. Each user will be given an initial 160 gigabytes of storage where they will be able to store their programs at the server for later viewing. Cablevision’s fee for this is about the same as it is for the home DVR.
This particular new technology will basically permit the individual cable user to be permitted to open up a display on their television where they can choose the program that they wish to record, simply by using their remote. They will be able to store the programs they have recorded at the server for an unlimited length of time, as it were. All in all it seems to be a pretty darn decent system.

New iPod features and accessories

For the iPod owner who likes to be away from it all there is a solution to recharging the iPod without the use of electricity, this is with the use of Powermonkey Explorer. The new unit is unlike any other on the market so far for iPod owners with its ability to be used without electrical power.

Unlike the first of these, which needed to be connected to power, this new one does not. This comes in a fabric case that will keep the Powermonkey and all of its accessories secure, including the solar panel.

Yes, this new Powermonkey Explorer is made to go anywhere including the great outdoors with a solar power accessory to recharge iPods anyplace there is sunlight. Along with the solar panel there is also electrical connections for both the United States and European electricity for charging iPods when connected with a USB cable.

This also means that the iPod owners will never be without their play list when enjoying the outdoors.

There are a number of contacts which may be contacted for help in figuring out the functions of the new iPods, Apple of course has tech support, however there are also other companies that offer expert advice and are trained to help with iPod problems and questions from the most simple to the most technical.

One of these tech support companies for iPod are SupportSpace, where they are ready to give support on the latest generation of iPods from the most simple procedure to the most complicated.

While many iPod users will not need to resort to an expert the fact that they are there when questions or problems arise is a comforting thought with all the functions the new generation of iPods are capable of performing.

When the results are in for the amount of sales for the holiday season are in for the new generation of iPods it is expected to be a dramatic increase from sales at other times of the year.
