The company says that the solar array offsets 16,425 barrels of oil that would otherwise be burned to make electricity during the next 30 years, and PV solar energy is a clean and renewable energy source. If you are in need of Oahu Used Cars then I can certainly suggest King Windward Nissan. All in all for their part, they have been specializing in used cars on the island of Oahu for some time now and are highly recommended.
The Kona Brewing Company has executed other energy-smart initiatives. Both of its pubs on Hawaii’s Big Island and Oahu, this last fall, became Certified Green Restaurants® by the Green Restaurant Association. In December the brewery produced Oceanic Organic Saison, Hawaii’s first certified organic beer. The company will be reaching for another goal with its new solar energy generating system.

The changing landscape of the Web Directory World and the Web

In a fit of nostalgia, I recently realized that have been on the world wide web since more or less it's beginning about 25 or so years ago. That was when the first actual browser came out which really permitted you to see the web in the way it was intended, with pictures, etc. As it were, I completed my initial website around 2 years later, and I can tell you I have seen so many alterations and modifications since that time. After all, at that point in time the larger search engines were excite, Altavista, Magellion and Webcrawler and one that no longer exists called 'REX'. Yahoo was just a directory and did not evens earh the web yet (although you could search it's rather limited directory of hand-selected sites). of course, back then everyone used Netscape navigator as their browser and your meta tags were all you actually needed since the web was so fresh and news.
As it were, more sophisticates search index sites such as google, Bing and gigablast were not quite around as of yet. As a whole,
there were a lot of large portal type sites which no longer exist today. Many went down went the 'dot com bubble' went bust around ten years ago.
They had been funded by rampant speculation, because back then if you had a dot com domain and any reasonable idea you could get funding, someimes lots of it.
I mean, you could get millions of dollars to develop a site, and a lot of those sites never made a penny. For every Amazon.com there were hundreds of sites that went completely belly-up.
As a result, we are now looking at a completely different world wide web than even ten years ago. Of course, a some sites like yahoo have remained a constant staple, but so many sites which were hyped up to the now since are long gone. father time has simply moved on, as they say. One specific reason for the said 'rebirth' of the web was the imporvement of encryption methods and secure servers. In the 90's the perception was that it was somewhat risky to use your credit card in an internet commercial transaction. I suppose that could be a good thing since so many folks need credit counseling these days because they flash the plastic at a drop of the hat (I used to be one of them, in fact). Nowadays, not only do they need credit counseling but they also need Debt Management, debt help and debt relief. Overall, I can really now can see whay so many people were extra cautious at that time. After all, it is fairly easy to hide in the anonymity of the web. Just about anyone who can turn on a computer and log into the web can attempt to scam you from anywhere, even from third world countries and countries with weak laws regarding these things. It is a generally risky place I guess. However, with new and modified encryption and security measures and methods things have really changed for the better.

Technology News: Dell Computers

As I am sure you know, computers are at the forefront of both the business and technological universe today. Of course, they are a truly global business of many billions of dollars in annual revenues. All in all, certain specific entrepreneurs in this particular industry like Bill Gates of the microsoft Corporation in Seattle have succeeded in a huge way. One such man is of naturally Michael Dell of Dell Computers.
The native Texan was born to an orthodonist and a wall street broker. Going to Memorial High School when he was quite young, he did not do particularly well from an academic viewpoint yet he showed superb business management skills in his job as a seller of subscriptions for the Houston Post newspaper 9do they still have print newspapers, lol). As an aside if you spend a lot of time in the office on the computer and could use an office chairs then might I suggest Sitbetter.com as they have some of the best office chairs found anywhere at this time, regardless of what style.
This includes computer and adjustable office chairs also.
Needless to say, his climb to the stratosphere started while still in school, at a firm known as PC's Limited. His garage was his office, as I recall.Twenty three years after his initial investement of himself into the industry, Micheal Dell has created one of the largest computer assembly companies in the world; with Dell Computers generating sixteen billion dollars in revenue in 2008; and his now massive firm shows no signs of slowing down in growth and on the contrary, it is still growing quite rapidly.

The World Wide Web and Insurance Issues in 2008

All in all, the growth of the World Wide Web as well as e-commerce generally as a way of conducting business has opened the door to brand new risks which the insurance market is looking to accommodate, and gaps that need to be filled. Clearly, the Y2K problem did not cause a global apocalypse. Nevertheless, recent events have shown that the use of malicious code and/or attacks on commercial websites pose significant
and continuing risks to businesses that rely on, or are expanding into, e-commerce. On the one hand, some commentators believe that existing forms of property and liability insurance will adequately address such risks. However, it is doubtful whether Y2K remediation costs are covered by traditional forms of property insur¬ance. The Y2K insurance cases will undoubtedly serve as a proving ground for such arguments. You can find similiar information about this over at the Economic and Business news Blog which is one f the more resource rich weblogs out there currently.
As noted above, many of the first-party property exposures are largely intangible. There are few, if any, reported cases addressing the property damage issue directly. Notwithstand¬ing the Reliance Systems conclusion that "tan¬gible property" is ambiguous, most courts that have considered the term in the context of third¬party liability policies have had no difficulty finding that economic losses are intangible. As noted above, policies that insure against enumer¬ated perils will favour the insurer where Y2K failure is not one of the specified risks of loss. The converse is true with policies that insure against direct physical loss unless excluded. The extent to which Y2K remediation costs are fortuitous will clearly be a hotly contested issue. In either case, courts may well be swayed by the fact that Y2K remediation costs can easily be characterised as a cost of doing business, i.e. modernising soft¬ware, that was never contemplated as falling within the scope of property insurance.
12. 23 F.3d 808 (3d Cir. 1994).
13. ibid. at 819, n. 13.
(2000) LC.C.L.R .. This brand new system will basically permit programs to be recorded with out using a DVR. Instead, it will only take programming a program to be recorded by a digital set-top box and the programs in question will then be stored at the server for you instead of the DVR at your house. This is going to save nearly a billion dollars for the firm and other cable firms will certainly be offering this technology in several years or less. Additional details may be found at the Internet Mobile Technology News
This new network DVR technology is not without it’s own legal issues, however. There is still a question of copyright-infringement which needs to be worked out with movie and Television firms. Time Warner is considering a federal appeal after recently losing its 2-year war with Cablevision over its new network DVR system.
Cablevision did win their first battle so they do have plans to put it into operations in early 2009. The new system operates much like a home DVR and those using it will begin recording the shows they want to watch later. Each user will be given an initial 160 gigabytes of storage where they will be able to store their programs at the server for later viewing. Cablevision’s fee for this is about the same as it is for the home DVR.
This particular new technology will basically permit the individual cable user to be permitted to open up a display on their television where they can choose the program that they wish to record, simply by using their remote. They will be able to store the programs they have recorded at the server for an unlimited length of time, as it were. All in all it seems to be a pretty darn decent system.

Additional iPod Features

JVC has brought an entirely fresh way of docking to you iPod owners; with their JVC NX-PN7 this is not simply a docking station: They have in fact placed them selves in a different arena when it comes to this product, which has not one but two docking stations.

The JVC NX-PN7 is a tabletop appliance that is capable of docking two iPods side-by-side and equipped with speakers. This component measures thirteen inches wide, it also features Am and FM radio tuner, it comes with a clock that has a timer and is has ease of use with a remote.

Another feature that the JVC NX-PN7 has to offer iPod owners is the ability to charge both iPods while they are docked and being played.

This small sized unit gives iPod families the ability to listen to more than one play list or the person who owns more than one iPod the choice of which to listen to with a click of the remote.

Best of all these new JVC NX-PN7 units will be available to consumers in April of this year and come in several colors such as blue, green and red. The thirteen inch size also enables iPod owners to move it to any room in the house or leave it in one place and with the clock and timer it is also useful for more than docking iPods. In other iPod news, according to a story in the highly respected Chicago Tribune, it was reported that the iPod Touch was upgraded with 2 powerful trends which are currently sweeping the gadget landscape: the use of Wi-Fi and the ever-increasing assortment of third-party applications for hand-held devices. It is actually the only iPod dock which
upconverts your video to 720p or 1080i resolution and your music to X-Fi
Xtreme Fidelity(R). The Xdock HD is perfect for use
with the iPod(R) Touch, iPod Classic, new iPod Nano as well as older iPods.
All in all, it connects to your home theater system using HDMI, or it may be
connected with component or composite for video. The gadgets that you have purchased this holiday season might be even more frustrating than seeing television re-runs.

That is since individuals often do not read the manual for more technologically complicated gadgets, thinking that they may be able to set them up with no outside assistance. Additional gadget and technology information may be found over at the
iPod Touch Blog

Apparently, many of us will be lowered to clicking randon buttons on our new toys this holiday season, and this could end up causing them to break. A blog article states, ".....people resort to clicking random buttons rather than turn to an expert. This can often do more damage than good."
And in a research study from YouGov, fully one fourth of us are already resigned to spending between thirty minutes and 5 hours simply setting our technology up on December 25.
Oh, what a dilemma!

Tim Fairs of The TechGuys offered some help for those struggling to get their gadgets in working. order:

"We strongly advise customers not to discard this sheet with the wrapping paper. I guess this really goes with the territory. After all, criminals
are always jumping on the latest technology in an attempt to get a leg up on the law for their criminal activities. For
example, Since GPS devices exploded on the scene this year, so have Bucks County police reports of their thefts.
Literally Hundreds of these gadgets were pilfered as the system's suction cups clung to windows of unlocked vehicles.
In addition, GPS and other such digital gadgets propelled one of the biggest auto burglary rings in twenty years earlier in 2007.
And regarding IPods are concerned, the country as a whole has been witnessing a massive “iCrime Wave,” according to a recent research study by the Urban Institute's
Justice Policy Center. In fact, the venerable iPod alone has substantially increased nationwide violent crime statistics in 2005, the first time in some twelve years,
according to the data. But by now this ghastly iCrime wave appears to have largely peacked, at least for now. T
This particular technology, known as a a hypervisor, is essentially the underlying virtualization technology for the server release, which is a significant upgrade which, if all goes well, should be released on February 27 of next year.
Hyper-V makes the most of virtualization-enhanced microprocessors from the Intel Corporation and AMD and is supposed to help Microsoft compete with the virtualization leader of the field: VMware. In fact, they already has hypervisor technology available for sale.
Hypervisors permit cross-platform support so server computers may run a variety of versions of different OSes like Windows and Linux, for example, side by side on a single piece of hardware.

Ways to promote your Website on a Shoestring

well, the good news is that you do not really have to have deep pockets to promote your web business
on the internet. In this particular respect the world wide web is a relatively level playing field,
at least compared with traditional media outlets. The reason is that if you just throw
money at the problem of advertising your website without at least some knowledge of how this unique medium truly functions, you could fall
into one of the many pitfalls that are waiting for you, unfortunately. Just the way it is you know. So you should begin small and spend more as your experience level starts to grow.
I certainly recommend that you read the book by Jay Conrad Levinson called 'Guerrila Marketing Techniques'. It goes into superb detail on this rather important topic. It is must read for online 'netpreneurs'.
He spends plenty of time on all of the steps and likewise makes many critical distinctions. I suggest that you begin with the those methods which take the longest and then proceed from there. That is why I generally prefer to begin my promotion efforts by submitting my website to the relevent
web directories. This is because and it can literally can take weeks or even months to be approved in some web directories, particularly the very prestigious ones
such as the DMOZ or Open Directory Project. Be absolutely certain that you choose the right category prior to submitting, naturally. A good one to start with is
The Keeb Database Directory
The wonderful thing about directories in my humble opinion is they can increase your inbound links and you will never have to submit your website to the search engines
if you are listed on several good directory sites. Next you will want to write an article pertaining to the content of your website, and then submit that article, along with your website URL
in the resource box, to the leading article directories such as Ezinearticles and Article City. Whoever uses your article as content on their website or
ezine must have a direct link back to your site. What is wonderful about this method is the viral marketing aspect of it. In other words, if you
write a good article it will continually used by webmaster for months and even years later, continually promoting your site on an ongoing basis long after you submitted the article.
Next you will want to join some discussion forums which feature subject matter that is similiar to your website's theme. So, for example if you run
a real estate and investing website you will want to join a forum or message board related to these topics or something similiar. These boards
will generally allow you to have a signature or 'sig line' in which you can put your website address as well as a catch phrase so people
will want to click on it. Then just be a part of the discussion normally and you will promote your online business as you do. The same goes for newsgroups or
the usenet. These are just different types of discussion forums. You may then proceed on to the free classified type websites.
I also recommend ezine advertisements because you can usually find your site's specific niche. There are ezines about real estate, computers, medicine, blogging, home & family and many more subjects as well.

Comcast Blocking certain kinds of web traffic

According to a recent national news report from the AP,
it was reported that the internet giant Comcast Corporation apparently
interferes with attempts by some of their high-speed web users to share files over the internet.
This is significant because it contradicts the traditional netiquette of treating all kinds of web traffic
on an equal footing. This rather shocking news, which was verified by the AP after
coast to coast tests, is perhaps the most extreme example to date of data discrimination by a major American ISP.
It essentially involves the firm's computers masquerading as those of its users. And the
bad news here is that if this behavior or policy were to ever be broadly applied by other such web providers,
it could indeed be a crippling blow to the BitTorrent,
eDonkey and Gnutella file-sharing networks. While they are primarily considered to be sources of copyright music, software & feature,
BitTorrent especially is rising as a legitimate tool for quickly disseminating legal content.
The concept of equal treatment of web traffic, which is sometimes referred to as netequette or "Net Neutrality", is not really embedded in the law itself but instead backed by certain regulations.
The majority of the discussion
has focussed on tentative plans by the big web players to offer preferential treatment of traffic from some specific content providers for a fee.
It seems that Comcast's interference is an unusually assertive and proactive tactic for managing and moderating it's bandwidth consumption.
Whether or not this tactic is at all ethical is a different matter entirely. I am sure that they would like to keep that arguement as seperate as possible, in fact.
They would not address the practice, but their spokesperson stated that they apply various procedures to keep their web connections running at a smooth level.
According to the AP report, the spokesperson flat out refused to be specific regarding what the firm means exactly by "access".
More internet related articles available at The MPC Blog

Evidently Only uploads of the complete files are interferred with by the firm in question. As it stands now,
every computer recieves a message (which is completely invisible to the user) which appears like it comes from the other computer,
telling it to cease communicating. But neither message originated from the other computer — it comes from the firm.
This would be somewhat similiar to the operator cutting into your telephone conversation and saying: "Sorry, I have to hang up. Good bye."
Wow, ain't technology grand, lol? As a matter of fact, their interference appears to intercept all kinds of content. more related resources can be found in the The KB Directory

As an example, a feature film producer who desired to distribute his work using BitTorrent would find it very difficult or even completely impossible.
For quite some time, web access providers have hated the huge quantities of bandwidth consumed by a relatively diminutive number of users who participate in the various file-sharing programs.
These account between half and ninety percent of all web traffic, according to a data source in Europe. This seemingly insipid
tactic of managing web transfer data is referred to as "traffic shaping," and is broadly used across the the ISP firms. It often involves slowing down some kinds of traffic, such as file-sharing,
which is particularly bandwidth hungry. This is an interesting story. I would have never guessed that they were using such a deceptive tact. It is
apparently not legal, but is it ethical?
Only uploads of complete files are blocked or delayed by the company, as indicated by AP tests

Internet Advertisements face some Drawbacks

An interesting story out of an India based online newspaper
out a spotlight on the flip side of the internet advertising coin.
You see, while the World Wide Web has has indeed become a major advertising medium player,
with more and more individuals spending more and more time there surfing, searching, reading email or downloading content such as music & video,
it may not be that simple for advertisers to make surfers watch their advertisements. That is unless they are prepared to do so.
For example, right after the popular Video Portal 'YouTube' began embedding advertisement spots on it's video content,
a certain high-tech software developer has discovered a method for blocking them.
It is very easy to use. As a matter of fact, Netscape developer Chris Finke designed the software, known as 'TubeStop' which may be downloaded
as extension of the Firefox browser, which is already known as a privacy-friendly browser, relatively speaking.
The MPC Blog

Evidently Only uploads of the complete files are interferred with by the firm in question.
This is proving popular to a lot of the Tech-Heads out there.
In addition to this, The WSJ has confirmed that the extremely popular social-networking site known as Facebook Inc. is working on a brand new advertising system which
would basically allow marketers to target users with advertisements that are based on the huge quantities of data that individuals reveal on the wesite about themselves. Additional related resources can be found in the The KB Directory

Facebook, which is already being talked about as a possible annexing target for firms, is yet to fully take advantage its extreme popularity.
MySpace has already launched a major targeted ad platform for it's own social networking website.

How much technology do kids really need?

According to a recent story that ran in the respected Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper out of Wisconsin,
Computers, cellular phones, ipods and the like have been forcing their way onto more shopping lists, thanks at least partially by a constant barrage of media marketing telling adults that their kids require their very own laptops
and other gizmo's. In fact, it may actually be a useful habit - a reality check if you will, which might encourage him to pause for a second and truly consider
the difference between emails and interpersonal conversation.
"Email is a unique communication vehicle for a lot of reasons," Gates was quoted as saying to 'The New Yorker' magazine. It is simply not an alternative:
it is indeed a whole different process. Electronic mail or even text messaging can never quite do the entire job of communication since the human stuff like the emotions, various nuances and things you would
usually convey via your avatar are generally lost.

The Internet And FCC rulings

According to a news story initially reported over on the market Watch website, the microsoft Corporation
will dispute the FCC on Internet over Television airwaves.
In particular, Bill Gates and company disagree with
the FCC's findings that prototype devices, made specifically to connect individuals to high-speed Internet over unused television airwaves, either interfered with the Television signals or simply could not detect
them to avoid the interference. This story, while reported by Market Watch, was broke originally by the equally respected 'Washington Post' newspaper.
All in all, this filing is the big software corporation's most recent try to get the FCC commissioners to approve a plan which would essentially allow a newer generation of portable wireless devices to connect to the world wide web without the apparent handicap of having to rely on the existing carriers.
By the way these devices would basically use vacant Television airwaves to carry web service. Kind of liking recycling in a strange way. The airwaves will be available when Television broadcasters move to digital signals in the year 2009. The FCC plans to hold a meeting Thursday to talk about testing options for white-space devices. More details at
The Aaferie Web Directory
In the document that it is about to file, they dispute the recent findings that prototype devices either interfered with the television signals or could not detect them in the first place so as to avoid the interference. Their initial prototype was quite defective, but they then stated that another model has worked successfully in a
demonstration it gave to the FCC over the past week. This should be an intersting case. I look forward to seeing how it all goes down.

Submitting to Leading

The leading web directories to submit your website to are the search engine Friendly ones which do not use 'no-follow' attribute tags. Steer away from these like the plague, because they will not help you in the long run...... Some of them require a reciprical link back to their directory.
Make sure to submit your site to the elite human edited directories such as Yahoo and Gimpsy, and to intermediate level dirs such as The Global Directory and also The Net4any Web Dir You can often tell the status of such a directory by it's PR.
Look for a 3 (or above) on your toolbar or go to rankbuttons.com to find out the actual pagerank..
Remember that one-way links are always better than link trades, because the search engines give more weight to them.
Directories which encode their links are only useful for traffic but will not help your site at all in the search engine rankings, unfortunately.
Only submit to these Dirs if their Alexa Rating is particularly good. Needless to say, the ones which don't encode outgoing links with a no follow attribute cannot be helpful.
Don't neglect web forums, article directories & making your own weblog which links to your site as they will help also.
Further, do not neglect the niche directories as they can be a massive help.
The Real Estate Web Directory is superb if you happen to have a real estate or home loan related website, for example.
Niche directories can send targeted traffic while at the same time helping your search engine rankings.
